DAF makes its mark at G.R. Ward with order of first CF

Bulk grain haulier, G.R. Ward & Co, has taken delivery of their first New DAF FTP CF 450 from Ford & Slater Lincoln, the second DAF to be introduced into their fleet.

The 6x2 CF tractor unit is top of the line, featuring a Space Cab complete with skylights, predictive cruise control, DAF Connect and 450 MX11 engine with 12-speed TraXon gearbox.  The truck was ordered along with a used First Choice DAF XF 450 which entered into service around the same time.

With this only the second DAF to join the predominantly Scania G.R. Ward fleet, their Transport Manager, Jayne Pell, explained why the company chose DAF for this most recent vehicle: “An important factor in our decision making is always payload, and aside from the DAF CF being slightly better value for money, the trucks offered a much better weight. Add to that 24-hour service, an ideal dealership location, better fuel economy and the multiple service support of the dealer network and we had our choice made for us.”

Jayne concluded, “The trucks are a little different to our usual choice, but we would definitely consider another DAF in future. The drivers have been happy with both trucks, finding them a comfortable drive, and we had a fridge put in too, so they are pleased with that!”

Both DAF trucks are now in service as part of G.R Ward’s fleet of seven bulk haulage trucks and signed into a five year R&M contract with Ford & Slater Newark.
